No More Back-Ups and No More Double Flushing!
I know that many people are embarrassed when talking about toilets. I know this because along with all sorts of other bathroom fixtures, I sell them. Over the years, I’ve had to develop a more sensitive approach when I’m talking to customers about what sort of toilet they would like.
For instance, a while back I was at a trade show and our company had its own stand with some of the brands of toilet we carry. I noticed a couple who seemed to be particularly interested in the TOTO MS853113S-01 Ultramax, and they were in deep discussion. I approached with caution!
Upon noticing me, I asked them if they were looking for a new toilet to which the response from the lady was “actually, a replacement”. I responded with a couple of questions about why they were looking to replace and what they were looking for in their new bathroom fixture.
There was an uncomfortable pause (which I’m very used to). Eventually, the lady spoke up and said she was sick and tired of going into the bathroom only to find she had to re-flush the toilet (side glance at the husband). He obviously noticed this and gave me a slight wink. Of course, I knew straight away that he wasn’t the only one in this relationship that had to do the same thing, but was too polite to mention it.
The TOTO MS853113S-01 Ultramax
This was my cue! I went on to tell them all about the TOTO Ultramax and you’re about to find out how this toilet can improve your bathroom experience.
This model uses a siphon jet flushing action from G-Max which is probably the most popular system on the market. The flush valve is larger than most other models at about 3 inches wide and the trapway is just over 2 inches. This means the water is drawn away from the bowl more forcefully and returned to the bowl (clean) far quicker.
This system helps to prevent any clogs and no matter how “solid” the waste might be, once it’s flushed, it stays flushed! Yes for some, the sound this toilet makes is a little louder than other models but after all, I’m sure you’ll agree that efficiency will outweigh this. Oh, and don’t forget your water consumption. This little beast of a toilet will only use 1.6 gallons per flush.
Again, this is one of the most important aspects of any toilet because there’s nothing worse than being uncomfortable when you sit down. So if you’re on the taller side, this toilet is probably not for you. This model is about 15 inches high which is perfect for people of average height.
TOTO has also used their SoftClose seat system with this model. This means that you won’t be bothered with loud slams as the seat or lid is dropped. The hinges are specially designed so they lower themselves slowly and quietly.
Because this is a one piece toilet and the fact that its design has few “nooks and crannies”, keeping it clean will be a breeze. The design is such that the overall look is neutral with soft lines, but as this is a one piece you should expect to pay a little more.
The main color this toilet is offered in is cotton white, but TOTO does also provide them in Bone, Colonial White and Sedona Beige, so fitting it into your current décor shouldn’t be an issue.
And by the way, the couple I was talking to? They bought one, and I’ve had no complaints!
If you want to change your toilet experience as well, why not have a quick look at what Amazon have to offer on price. It may not be the cheapest of toilets, but it’s reasonably priced for a one-piece toilet. These simply cost a little more than two-piece models.
