Get That Spa Feeing Every Time You Visit the Bathroom
I’ve said many times there isn’t much room in the social world for conversations about toilet habits. After all, it’s a pretty personal bodily function. However, fortunately for you I’m not that worried about passing on information about products I think will make the whole bathroom experience a more pleasant one.
When I initially started this website, my aim was to let you know about the best toilets I think there are on the market. However, I recently came across the wonders of bidets and washlets and I think they’re such a good idea I couldn’t resist adding a few reviews for you.
In this one, you’re going to find out all about the TOTO SW554 S300 Washlet. The review below does discuss the model designed for an elongated toilet seat, but it’s also available in round.
Must Have Features
If you already know something about washlets, you will know there is a wide range to choose from when it comes to features. For me, this one has got a lot going for it. For a start you have the benefit of remote control which can make life a lot easier for people who are not very mobile. Within this remote, you have everything you need at the touch of a button.
Although I have come across issues with the actual lid being a little flimsy in that it will bow if you sit on it, this can easily be remedied by not sitting on the lid! 🙂 Considering it has a “no slam” mechanism this is probably why it’s lightweight. Plus, the materials used are anti-bacterial for extra hygiene.
The actual seat can be heated and here’s where it gets clever! You can set a timer so the heat will come on at intervals of three, six or nine hours. This is especially useful for energy saving, and for those of you who visit the bathroom at pretty much the same time each day. What’s also really clever is that if you’re using the energy save cycle and sit on the washlet, the heater will come on automatically and it doesn’t take very long to heat up.
This is always the most important feature for me (for obvious reasons) and this model doesn’t disappoint. You get two options for washing at the rear, one is a standard jet of water (although this might give some of you a bit of a surprise because it can be quite strong), and the other is a soft jet of water – a bit like a shower for your behind.
You also have the option to change the direction of the spray so it will “shower” your front bits. However, there have been some complaints that the wand isn’t quite long enough to really get to where it matters. In this case, it might be worth looking at the model designed for round toilets.
You can adjust the water temperature and pressure as well as the direction so no matter what your preference, you can leave the toilet feeling much cleaner.
Yes! This model of washlet has a dryer! At the touch of a button you can set the dryer to “go” and it’s equipped with 3 different temperatures. However, for those of you who are little shall we say, more hairy in your nether regions, you might find this feature takes its time to have an effect.
I must admit that one of my most embarrassing issues with bathrooms is the odor that’s left behind! This model will make bathroom smells a thing of the past and will eliminate the need for letting everyone know what you’ve been up to by spraying a freshener!
Installation of this washlet is fairly easy and if you want that just “showered” feel each time you’ve paid a visit to the toilet I think this model is well worth looking into. It’s available in three different colors: Cotton White, Colonial White and Sedona Beige.
The price won’t make you feel the need to empty your bladder either! If you’re interested, take a look at Amazon where there always seem to be some great discounts on price.
